Summer Internships
Our paid summer internships offer college students an opportunity to gain real-world experience and can even lead to offers of full-time employment following graduation. Internships are a minimum of 10 weeks long, beginning in May and ending in August. Students must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, be able to work 40 hours per week and be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program. Housing assistance is available for the internship period. Preference is given to students majoring in accounting, business, engineering, finance, IT or supply chain management. Apply to the 2027 summer internships listed below through November.

Fall 2026 College Recruiting
Newport News Shipbuilding representatives are visiting more than two dozen campuses this fall. If we’re coming to your school, stop by to meet our Talent Acquisition team and learn what a career in shipbuilding could mean for you.

Co-ops
Earn while you learn. We offer competitive pay and opportunities for students to gain experience while pursuing an education through our co-op program. These opportunities could lead to full-time employment following graduation.
Two-Year College/University
Students at two-year colleges or universities can apply for designer co-op positions.
Four-Year College/University
Students enrolled in four-year institutions can apply for co-ops in business management, engineering, IT and supply chain management.
Participants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be enrolled in a four-year degree or 2+2 program as a full-time student (pursuing 12 credits or more), and able to commit up to 20 hours a week to work at NNS.
Positions for the fall semester are posted from June through July. Positions for the spring semester are posted from September through October.
